Legendary Sydney street artist PHIBS unveiled his latest project at our Newtown Store earlier this month - a live art experience blurring the lines between street art and streetwear, in partnership with The Kraken Black Spiced Rum.
The 4x5m installation in our courtyard, made entirely of AS Colour t-shirts, became the canvas for PHIBS’ graffiti-style interpretation of the legendary lore of the last barrel of rum.
Inspired by the legend of a mysterious shipwreck that sank one of the largest shipments of black spiced rum ever brought back from the Caribbean. PHIBS’ artwork brought the story to life at scale, and he also tagged t-shirts for everyone who came through for the exclusive Kraken x PHIBS AS Colour 5069 Classic Oversized and 4079 Women’s Classic Minus Tees.
“I’ve painted on plenty of walls, but turning a bunch of blank tees into one giant mural and tagging individual ones for people to wear feels like something different. It was great to bring that story to life in a way people can actually take home and wear.” – PHIBS
Nearly 500 limited edition AS Colour t-shirts were distributed throughout the day, but for those outside of Sydney or unable to attend, a limited number will be available for purchase online at phibsxkraken, while stocks last.
